Vijay's Yohan will be made like an international film: Gautham Menon

Eros International Media Ltd (EIML), a leading global company in the Indian film entertainment industry, has announced a co-production deal with Photon Kathaas Productions (PKP) for forthcoming Tamil movie Yohan Adhyayam Ondru (John: Chapter 1) starring Vijay. Produced in association with Future Film Production Ltd (UK Production), the film will be directed by Gautham Menon with music by AR Rahman and is expected to commence production from Q2 2012.

Mr Gautham Vasudev Menon says, “I am really looking forward to filming an all-out action film afterVettaiyadu Villaiyadu. Also interesting because I will be working with Vijay for the first time. Yohan will be made like an international film while still retaining all the elements, especially music, that makes Indian cinema work. AR Rahman has already composed a theme song for the film which is simply outstanding. PKP (of which I am a part of) and I have found the ideal partners in Eros for a film on this scale, which needs to be produced and released on an international scale.”

Yohan is the first of its kind (in South India) action thriller centering around a character that will be featured in a series of films (prequels and sequels). The film will be shot in international locations, predominantly in the United Kingdom with the active support of UK government. The UK has a very favourable policy towards encouraging foreign filmmakers to shoot their films in the UK.

Rajapattai censored, release on Dec 23

Prasad V Potluri and his PVP Cinemas, Vikram starrer Rajapattai has been censored with a clean U certificate today.

The film is now slated for release on December 23 and in Telugu on Dec 30

 Remember the audio of the film was launched recently in a grand manner in Chennai at the Anna Centenary Auditorium.
Rajapattai directed by Suseenthiran has Vikram, Deeksha Seth and K Viswanath in the lead along with Saloni, Reema Sen and Shriya Saran doing a special item songs.

Yuvan has composed five peppy songs for the album being marketed by Gemini Audio.
Vikram is doing a pucca mass masala after years. Suseenthiran has made a mass entertainer and it is on the same genre as Gemini, Dhool, Dhill.

      It’s the Superstar’s birthday today, December 12th, 2011! The star was born in Nochikuppam, Krishnagiri to Jijabai and Ramoji Rao Gaikwad as Sivaji Rao Gaikwad on December 12th, 1949.
He is the youngest of the four siblings. Rajinikanth married Latha in 1981 and has two daughters Aishwarya Dhanush and Soundarya Ashwin.
Rajini’s debut film in Tamil was Aboorva Ragangal in which he played a small role. After that, he was seen in several films which were directed by K Balachander who introduced him to the tinsel town. Some of Rajinikanth starrers were 16 Vayathinile, Aarilirunthu Arubathu Varai, Bhairavi, Bhuvana Oru Kelvi Kuri, Naan Mahaan Alla, Yejamaan, Muthu, Chandramukhi, Endhiran, etc.
The Superstar’s upcoming film Kocahdaiyaan, directed by his daughter Soundarya, is slated to be released next year.

1. Though Superstar was born in a Marathi family, he has not acted in a single Marathi film yet.


2. Before venturing into films, he worked as a bus conductor for the Karnataka State Transport corporation.

3. He joined the Madras Film institute in 1973 with the help of a friend and then started his career with the Kannada film Sangama in 1975 but the film's release was delayed.

4. Rajni's Muthu was the first Tamil film to be dubbed in Japanese as Muthu: The Dancing Maharajah.

Rajni’s birthday as ‘World Style Day’?

Ask any one of Rajinikanth’s scores of fans what they like most about their ‘Superstar’ and chances are that they’d flip their hair back, laugh with descending intonation and say ‘style’.

Now, as if those ‘style’ statements hadn’t become synonymous with Kollywood’s numero uno actor, his fans are clamouring for something bigger to mark his birthday. About a month ago, a post appeared on the wall of a Rajinikanth fan page on Facebook that said ‘We should celebrate Thalaivar’s birthday as World Style Day’ and this set the virtual juggernaut rolling.

“Once that started, every online fan thought it was a great idea and has been garnering support to make World Style Day a reality,” explains Vinodh K R, an ardent fan and virtual fan club moderator. “More and more people have begun spreading the message through word-of-mouth as his birthday (December 12) comes closer,” he adds.

With the backing of close to one lakh fans online, you’d think that World Style Day might actually become a reality by the time the Superstar completes 61 years of age. But there are bigger plans afoot, claims Vinodh, “Everything we do for him has to be big. Next year’s birthday (12-12-12) will be a landmark day in the history of the universe and by this time, we will have managed to have his birthday declared officially as World Style Day.”

Till then, posters, publicity and petitions to everyone from the Chief Minister and the President of India will be sent.

Birthday bash

But for ‘Rajini 62’, plans for a grand bash have been in the works for almost a month. This time, a unified bash for the superstar has been planned on December 13 at Valluvar Kottam. The best part is that everything will have a ‘62’ twist to it, says an excited Saidai G Ravi, office bearer of the Chennai district and head of Rajinikanth Fans Welfare Association.

“If 62 people are given free clothes, then students’ fees amounting to Rs 62,000 will be donated... there will be 62 everywhere,” he says and adds excitedly, “We will also set off 62 sky decorators (rockets) that will fire 240 shots in the air around Valluvar Kottam, so that it can be seen at his (Rajini’s) residence.”

And they’re a stickler for crowd control too.

“Only 40 invites have been sent to each district fan club,” says K Thayumanavan, President of the Fans Welfare Association in Tiruvarur. “No one will be allowed in without the invitation bearing the 3-D hologram,” he adds.

But there’s a reason why they don’t want to open the floodgates and allow fans to witness industry bigwigs like SP Muthuraman and Kalaipuli S Dhanu felicitating their hero. “When we invited Thalaivar, we were told that if the programme was under control and to his liking, he would come and greet us as a surprise,” said an organizing committee member.

Surya leaving to Italy for maatran in 2012

Suriya’s upcoming movie Maatran in the direction of KV Anand is busy with hectic shooting schedules abroad. Suriya is pairing up with the pretty actress Kajal Agarwal in the film. This is the first time Suriya is romancing Kajal for a film.

Maatran is being made lavishly with a whopping budget by the AGS Entertainment Production house. Harris Jayraj is zeroed in by the makers for the musical scores for the film.

Kollywood tinsel town is at buzz that Maatran film unit are in plans to can risky action stunts of the film in an unrevealed locations in Italy.

Italy trip will take of three weeks it seems. Some flash back scenes, a song sequence and some stunts scenes are planned to be shooted there.

As per the sources Suriya will be seen in four get-ups in the film. After wrapping up hi-end action stunts in Italy the director will shoot the climax portion of the film.

These stunts are to be picturised in 2012 under the supervision of stunt master Peter Heins.

Rajinikanth kochadaiyaan hunt for female lead continues two leading heroines are being considered for the rajinikanthstarrer kochadaiyaan. While one is vidhya balan, fresh from the success of the dirty picture, the other is Ghajini gal Asin. Along with the actresses. anushka shettyhas also been approached to team up withrajinikanth .

Actress Sneha has been signed to playRajinikanth’s sister in Kochadaiyaan. As far as the technical department is concerned, Oscar Award winner AR Rahman and cinematographer Rajiv Menon have been signed.

Kochadaiyaan is loosely inspired by Pandya king, Kochadaiyan Rana Dheeran. The movie directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth is being made by the 'motion capturing' technique.kochadaiyaan expected to hit the screens in August 2012.

Director Murugadoss’ brother to act

After the huge success of 7am Arivu and his own production Engeyum Eppodhum director A R Murugadoss is all set to introduce his younger brother as hero in his next venture. The director of the film is none other than his own assistant director Thiru.
