Vijay-AR Murugadoss movie to be launched in Thiruchendur

AR Murugadoss is gearing up for his next project, which will star Vijay. The filmmaker, who received mixed response for his recently released 7aam Arivufrom the audience and critics, is all set to start his next biggie in Thiruchendur, Thoothukudi district.

The makers of the film have decided to launch the forthcoming multilingual movie at the Thiruchendur Murugan temple, one of the six abodes of Lord Muruga. The story of the movie will start from the seaside and then moves on to Mumbai, where the major part of the movie will be shot. It is said to be a gangster film, which would a action-packed film.

Sources say that the movie will have two female leads. Kingfisher model Angela Johnson has been signed and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra is being considered for the other leading lady role. The movie is produced by SA Chandrasekhar and it is reported that Santosh Sivan is the cinematographer of the upcoming movie. Other details are under wraps.

Puthiya Thalaimurai beats Sun News!

Puthiya Thalaimurai on top, pips Sun News to second place.

Tamilnadu’s first independent news channel, Puthiya Thalalimurai, launched on August 24, 2011, claims to have attained the No 1 position in record 60-days.


As per TAM ratings, Puthiya Thalaimurai has scored a GRP of 35.94 on Week 44 across Tamil Nadu, across news genre in CS 4+ years or viewers 4-plus years watching television in cable and satellite homes.

Besides topping the universe, the channel has also topped its target audience of all adult viewers with an age of 25-plus across all socio economic categories.

Now the Sun News has been pushed to second spot. It is interesting to note that after a long time being on top, the channel has gone down. Jaya Plus is on third spot, Kalaignar News next and then followed by Raj News and NDTV Hindu..

Puthiya Thalaimurai is the first HD channel from Tamil Nadu, which has also employed the latest broadcast equipment imported from various sources worldwide.

'I am Happy on Velayutham's success' says Surya

Spinning huge profits across the globe, Suriya-Shruthi Haasan starrer ‘Ezham Arivu’ is taking a great leap in all the centres. ‘A new attempt always goes well with criticisms and we have been exposed to positive and negative comments’ said Suriya.

Endhiran, Sura, Mappillai put Sun Pictures in trouble

The Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners’ Association has issued a press statement in which it has been stated that the theatres in Tamil Nadu will not screen films by Sun Pictures henceforth unless the issue is resolved. According to the press release, Sun Pictures is yet to refund the deposit amount for films like Endhiran, Sura, Vettaikaran, and Mappillai. Despite several rounds of talks with the Sun Pictures’ officials, the amount has not been settled; therefore, it has been decided not to screen their films until this issue is resolved.
Further, the press note mentions about the 30 percent entertainment tax imposed by the State Government and their request to CM J Jayalalitha to consider reducing it. The Theatre Owners also appealed to the CM to decrease the entertainment tax by 50 percent for films that are screened in less than 50 screens.
The theatres owners also intend to meet the CM soon with a request to set right the ticket rates in the state.

Ajith 2 Act in Baadshah Part-2?

There is a speculation going on in Kollywood that Ajith may star in Badshah 2. He is all set to do a film for producer AM Rathnam and the producer is toying with idea of either making a sequel to Indian or Badshah.
It is rumored that AM Rathnam had a word with Rajinikanth who had essayed the lead role in Badshah about the sequel and the Superstar had given his assent. We also hear that Rajini is keen that Ajith must star in the film.

7aum Arivu received tremendous response: Suriya

Suriya met the press in a jubilant and happy mood to celebrate the success of his 7 Aum Arivu and to thank the media for their support.
The actor said, “At the start of my career, I could never imagine that any film of mine would get this kind of a response as 7 Aum Arivu has got and that any of my films could do such business. The film has had a tremendous response. Many viewers who haven’t gone to the theatres in a long time have come to see this film, as per what some exhibitors have told me. A very different crowd has come to see this film at many places. Both in India and overseas the response has been terrific. I want to thank the media for their role in supporting me through my career and also pointing out any flaws which made me introspect.”
He agreed that the film had got a mixed response from the media in their reviews but added that the exhibitors, producer and director are very happy with the results. “Singham was my biggest commercial success till now but this film’s collections have surpassed that in the first ten days itself,” he said.
Asked whether he knew that Sruthi would hog so much of the limelight by her character, he said, “I knew the concept of the film and I did not strive to show heroism all through.  I knew her character drives the story.  But I also knew that the director would deliver the goods and that we were not trying to follow a conventional formula.”
In response to a query, the actor said that Vijay’s wife Sangeetha had seen the film and had said it was good.  He added that Rajni had also seen it and said, ‘fantastic work, keep it up’. Answering a query the actor added, “Various people have been spreading news on the Net about some changes in the Telugu version. I ask people not to believe it without seeing the film. In Telugu too Bodhidharman has been shown as being from Kanchipuram only and not from elsewhere.”
The actor is now happy about the way Maatran is shaping up and said that his character is a unique one, never seen before. About news relating to Singham 2, he said, the details would be given in a few days time. The actor revealed that he is in talks with a big director for a period film but nothing is finalized as yet.
Asked to comment on Velayudham he said, “I too am doing entertaining  films and its healthy trend to have films of different genres.”

Once again Vijay vs Danush vs Karthi for 2012 Pongal

2011 Pongal had the movies of these actors hitting screens together. Vijay’s ‘Kaavalan’, Dhanush’s ‘Aadukalam’ and Karthi’s ‘Siruthai’ were released on the same day.

‘7Aum Arivu’ is historically Wrong: Buddhist Guru

The Tamil movie ‘7am Arivu’ directed by A R Murugadoss, has hurt the sentiments of the followers of Buddhist monk Bodhidharma.

In a press conference on Saturday, Buddhist Teacher Babu T Raghu said that while he has no complaint against creativity and fiction, a disclaimer should have been mentioned in the film. “They are claiming it to be historically accurate while it is not, I have texts to prove it,” he claimed while lashing out at the promoters for trying to market the movie as an accurate depiction of Bodhidharma’s life.

"He was 150 years when he arrived at Canton in China and not a 25-year-old body builder as depicted by Suriya in the movie,” he added.

Raghu went on to point out many instances in the movie which according to him are historically inaccurate. “I am basing my objections on eight years of study and 34 years of practice of Buddhism, my community cannot tolerate such insults to someone we sincerely worship. I respect the filmmakers and Surya, but they must not claim that their movie is a historical account of Bodhidharma’s life” he said.

He stated that he was ready for a debate with the filmmakers should they wish to dispute the facts and said that he would be dispatching a protest letter to them soon. Also being discussed is a hunger strike by followers of Bodhidharma throughout the country and legal options like filing a PIL.A

Vikram's Next film wit Director Vijay titled as "Thaandavam"

UTV confirms the title for the Uber dashing Vikram and hot-shot director Vijay’s forthcoming film as THAANDAVAM
Thaandavam  will be an action-entertainer starring Vikram, Anushka, Amy Jackson, Santhanam among others.

The film will have music from G.V. Prakash Kumar, Lyrics by Na. Muthukumar, Camera from Nirav Shah, Editing by Anthony, Art direction by Nagu, written & directed by A.L.Vijay.

The music composition has already started and the pre-production work is currently on.

Thaandavam  will have never-seen- action scenes in Indian cinema, involving Hollywood technicians. The film commences shooting in Chennai from December first week and will go on continuously in various locations of USA and in Delhi in addition to various locations in South Tamil Nadu.

It will be a summer 2012 release for Vikram, who plays a strong character Shiva. 
 It will be UTV’s own production in Tamil and Telugu.

Anushka - Amala Paul pairs Suriya for Singam Part-2

The 'Singam' pair is ready to roar again. In a film to be directed by Hari with Suriya, Anushka Shetty and Amala Paul will be the two leading ladies. This has been confirmed by the director, who is at present busy giving finishing touches to the script.


"It is a two-heroine subject and we have signed Anushka as one of the heroines," says Hari, who had earlier worked with Suriya in movies such as 'Aaru', 'Vel' and 'Singam'. "The film will go on floors very soon," the movie maker says.

If Hari manages to bring together Anushka and Amala Paul, this will be second time for the actresses to come together, for they had shared the screen space with Vikram in 'Deiva Thirumagal' earlier this year. At that time, both declared that they had become very good friends.

In the meantime, Suriya is currently working with KV Anand for 'Maatraan', which is touted to be a cutting edge commercial entertainer. He is romancing Kajal Aggarwal for the first time in this movie produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram of AGS Entertainment.

Vijay ready to do different roles

Vijay has expressed his desire to be part of movies that offer versatile roles to him. But the Ilayathalapathy of Tamil cinema wants those films to fall under the commercial format. "Because commercial cinema is something which I have been successful at," he says.


Happy with the success of 'Velayudham', his Deepavali release, the actor says, "It was my longtime desire to work with Jayam Raja and so was the director's too. I started feeling positive vibes right from the first day of the shoot and when 60 percent of the movie was shot, I was confident about it's success."

Speaking on comparisons with 'Azad', Vijay further said, "Anyone can find a lot of differences between Azad and Velayudham. The director has made interesting changes to the story and screenplay to make it close to the hearts of Tamil audience."

Vijay is currently on a break, spending time with his parents, wife and children. Earlier this week, the actor's mother and singer Shobha Chandrasekaran has been appointed as the Artistic Heritage Consultant by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Sunpictures wishes 'Happy Birthday' to Kamal Hassan

Kamal Haasan celebrates his birthday on Nov 7. He is the first Tamil actor who converted his fan clubs into welfare associations. 

The actor has always been involved in social causes and has even pledged to donate his organs. This year his fan clubs have come out with a list of welfare activities which will be carried out on his birthday.

According to a press release from the association, Kamal fans will be involved in social activities on November 6 and 7. This includes donating food and medicines to the elderly and kids, blood and organ donation, donating dresses and sewing machines for the needy and, also help with the educational expenses of children.

Kamal is currently busy with work on 'Viswaroopam', his pet project where he is also donning the hats of a director and producer apart from playing protagonist. The film is taking shape at a fast pace and the cast and crew are tight-lipped about this venture. 'Viswaroopam' will be a bi-lingual in Tamil and Hindi which will be dubbed later to other languages.

Ajith's fight in snow strom for Billa 2

Billa 2 is a film which has Ajith and Parvathy Omnakuttan in the lead roles. This film is directed by Chakri Toleti. Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the music.


The shooting of the film has taken place for the last 23 days in Goa. On the last day of the shooting, the heroine of the film Parvathy Omnakuttan brought a big cake to the shooting spot and surprised everyone in the crew.

She requested Ajith to cut the cake and distribute to the cast and crew present.
But Ajith said that the real hero of this film is director Chakri and he is the appropriate person to cut the cake. So Chakri cut the cake and Ajith distributed it to all the cast and crew.

Then the cast and crew returned to Chennai after completing the shooting.

A fighting sequence for Billa 2 is to be shot in the snow storm....

The first schedule of the film was held in Tuticorin, where the scenes involved Ajith Kumar as a youngster was filmed there.

The second schedule was held in Goa, where some attention-grabbing stunt sequences were shot.
It was during this schedule; Ajith Kumar was injured while performing stunts. Now the entire crew has come back to Chennai and they’ll next head to Georgia.

According to the sources, Chakri is planning to shoot some mind-boggling action sequences between Billa and baddies across the snow capped mountains, where a huge snowstorm will appear while the action sequence is happening.

The makers are planning to complete the shooting by January-February as they want to release the film on April 14, 2012.

So far none of the posters have been unraveled and only the logo has been published in all newspapers and websites.

They have planned to shoot this sequence where Ajith will fight with the villains. The third schedule of this film’s shooting is to take place In Georgia in South Europe.
