'Mankatha' celebrates 50 days!

Top-notch actors rarely don the greasepaint of a character with negative shades; and if they do, it's almost always a dual role where the other guy is the 'good' one. But Ajith changed all those standards through 'Mankatha' where he played an out-and-out baddie until the very end of the movie. The film celebrates its successful run of 50 days today!

It may be mentioned that 'Mankatha' is widely being referred to as the year's biggest hit and has become a turning point in Ajith's career as people have accepted his bold new avatar in all the centers.

As fans celebrate the success of 'Mankatha' all over, Ajith's ardent fan within the industry, Simbu, is launching the music of his forthcoming 'Osthi' as an ode to his thala's success.

The film directed by Venkat Prabhu has a host of stars with Ajith playing the lead, while Trisha plays the female lead; Lakshmi Rai is seen in a pivotal role. Tunes composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja are up the charts till date.

'Velayudham' releasing big, over 820 prints!

'Velayudham', the most awaited flick of Ilayathalapathy Vijay is hitting worldwide cinema halls on this Diwali with ' hold your breadth - over 820 screens!

Produced by Aascar Ravichandran, Vijay has two gorgeous lead ladies - Hansika and Genelia. Directed by Jayam Raja who is known for commercial dramas that cater to family audiences, according to its producer, the movie will be released with record number of prints in Kerala and Karnataka. It may be mentioned that Vijay has a huge fan following in the God's Own Country as well as in Karnataka.

"Velayudham is screened in more than 120 theaters in Kerala and roughly about 100 theatres in Karnataka", says Ravichandran.

"Velayudham focuses on important social issues besides being packaged with the signature style of mass masala elements intact which is usually associated with a Vijay film", says an inside source.

Aascar Ravi also clarified that 'Velayudham' will be releasing in as many as 40 theaters in the city ruling out the rumour that it is screened in less number of screens.

47 theatres for 7am Arivu - 38 theatres for Velayudham

Ezham Arivu is a film which has Surya and Shruthi Haasan in the lead roles. This film which has been directed by A R Murugadoss has been produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin. Harris Jayaraj has composed the music for this film.
This film is about a Buddhist monk who lived in the 6th century at Kanchipuram. People who live in China have built temples and are worshipping him. The director has linked this with the present modern century and has created a commercial film.
This film’s producer Udhayanidhi Stalin who had earlier planned to release this film on Deepavali day has started booking theatres. This film will be releasing in 47 theatres in and around Chennai. The Censor Board has awarded an U certificate for this film.

Velayudham is a film which has Vijay, Genelia, Hansika and others in the cast has been directed by Raja and has been produced by Aascar Ravichandran. Vijay Anthony has composed the music for this film.

This film is the remake of a Telugu film Azad which has been released few years ago. Various release dates were announced for this film. Finally it has been announced that this film is being released on Deepavali day. It is expected that this film will do a good business because Vijay films usually have good opening and Aascar Ravichandran’s good promo. This film is being released in Chennai and suburbs in 38 theatres. The Censor Board has awarded an U certificate.

Ezham Arivu producer Udhayanidhi Stalin has mentioned that he will see Velayudham in the first day itself since he is a Vijay fan but at the same time he is promoting his film Ezham Arivu in his Twitter every day.

Vijay's dream coming true with Velayudham

Vijay's long-time wish is finally coming true with Velayudham. Referred as the biggest-ever film of his career, it marks his debut in the superhero genre movies.

The Kaavalan star claims that every actor dreams to act in superhero films and he is fortunate to enter this format with Velayudham. Vijay promises that the movie is not only high on actions but also offers a brother-sister story at the backdrop. All in all, the movie has all the commercial elements, which will be a treat for the audience.

Vijay will be seen in the role of a milkman-turned-vigilante in Velayudham. While Genelia D'Souza will be enacting the role of a journalist, who is the driving force behind him. Whereas, Hansika Motwani as his first love.

Velayudham is directed by Jayam Raja and produced by Aascar Ravichandran. It is hitting the screens on October 26.

Vijay's fans protest against theatre owners!

Vijay's fans are not happy these days. It is because their star is not getting enough theatres to screen his forthcoming Velayudham. The worrying factor is that even the cinema hall owners, who had signed the deal to release the movie, are not allotting big screens for him rather they are opting it for other big release, Surya's 7aam Arivu.

In their first step to protest the theatre owners' decision to sideline Velayudham, the fans staged a protest against Chennai’s Devi Cineplex's decision to allot smaller screens for Vijay's movie. A group of 100 members assembled at the theatre premises and shouted slogans against the management.

Devi Cineplex has four screens. Among those, Devi and Devi Paradise, which are big and well-equipped with latest technologies, have been allotted to 7aam Arivu. Whereas the remaining two screens - Devi Kala and Devi Bala – that are considered to be the smaller screens, have been left for Velayudham, protesters allege.

Vijay, Genelia D'Souza and Hansika Motwani starrer Velayudham is releasing in 38 screens in Chennai. Whereas, Surya and Shruti Hassan's movie 7aam Arivu is hitting the theatres in 59 screens.
